Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting
Ingredients:
- 2½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1½ cups sugar
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp cocoa powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1½ cups vegetable oil
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 tbsp red food coloring
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp white vinegar
Cream Cheese Frosting:
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
- Prepare the Cake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking soda, cocoa powder, and salt. In another bowl, beat eggs, oil, buttermilk, food coloring, vanilla, and vinegar until smooth. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients.
- Bake the Cake: Divide the batter between two greased 9-inch cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes. Cool completely before frosting.
- Make the Frosting: Beat cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Frost the cooled cake.
